About Richard
With 35 years in the music industry, Richard Richard has worked in various capacities as an A&R man, a manager, a promoter, a songwriter, a producer, a lecturer and a consultant.
Artists he has worked with in these varying roles include Gary Numan, A-ha, Hazel O’Connor, Amy Studt, Mick Karn (Japan), David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen Band, Karel Fialka, Depeche Mode, Dubstar, The Prodigy, Yello, Bill Pritchard and members of OMD, The Undertones to mention just a few.
Richard managed Mick Karn of Japan, Bill Pritchard and one of the members of UK chart stars Steps.
He released a new album under his band name Racecar in 2016 with 80’s hit artist Karel Fialka the man behind the hit ‘Hey Matthew’ on vocals. Richard also co-wrote every song on the album and co-produced the tracks. He was also the singer for a successful football album project and also released material in his first act Dead Eye Dolls.
Richard is also the CEO of Malta Music Export (www.maltamusicexport.com).
He has written various books on the music industry on areas such as the Eurovision Song Contest and A&R. Also books published on Depeche Mode and Abba. He is currently finishing a new book on Taylor Swift and her current album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ for release in late 2025 with a foreword from Midge Ure and an afterword from German pop singer Tim Kamrad.
He has lectured in various territories on the music industry and is looking to expand this so if anyone has any ideas or wants to manage the courses in different territories please let us know.
After 6 years working on an art system of 6 formulas Richard unleashed ‘Canvas Music’ to the world in 2015 at the Government Exhibition Halls in Gozo. Richard’s system means he can paint any song ever written in the world and highlights were songs by Madonna, Coldplay, David Bowie, Depeche Mode, Yello, Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton and Snow Patrol. Recent acquirers of Richard’s work include Muse and 80’s electronic pioneers OMD.
